Soccer kid

Jacob still needs some encouragement to stay on the field Wednesday evenings, and I'm proud of him. Last year, he would barely stay on the field. This year, he'll run around with the other kids and attempt to kick the ball.

I don't know if soccer is going to be his sport, but I'm glad he's getting lots of exercise and having fun with his friends.

What's a cooked, mashed swede?

A very reliable source (my mother-in-law) has filled me in on the swede secret. Apparently no harm needs to come to Hugo.

According to Wikipedia:
The rutabaga, swede (from Swedish turnip), or yellow turnip (Brassica napobrassica, or Brassica napus var. napobrassica) is a root vegetable that originated as a cross between the cabbage and the turnip. Its leaves can also be eaten as a leaf vegetable. It is safe to say that a turnip is a baby swede (Twiggs et al. 2009)

The actual haggis and herring recipe is looking better and better.
